Georgia is in Miz Land, the realm of the utterly miz. She is BORED TO DEATH. She misses her little pallies, especially Miss Huffmeister herself (Jaz). What she wouldn't give to see Jaz do her annoying flicky fringe thing!! It is so true what they say, absence makes the heart something something. And how. The only saving whatsit is that the library has about a trillion back issues of CosmoGIRL. Georgia is sitting cross-legged on the floor of the lounge closest to her bedroom, makeup and magazines spread around her, hair in curlers, letting her base coat of foundation dry and reading an article called "Would YOU be Leo's perfect date?".

At home, she would be doing this in her room, safely out of the path of elderly maniacs (and toddler maniacs, and cat maniacs), but there is so little to do here that she simply CANNOT be in her room a moment longer. Besides, there is no one here whose opinion she cares about. The only cute boy is Magnus, and not only has he got a girlfriend but he's about fifty (she may be misremembering his age). It only goes to show the utter futility of life, and so on. Anyway. Ooh, Leo likes Mexican food?

"Okay, so when prom time comes... well you probably don't have prom in the future but we don't have it in England either, so we can both just use the power of imagination and so on. But prom is, er, like a big party where you have to get off with someone. So it says, when prom time comes, who will you go with? A, your closest—erm, your closest friend, that would be me—" It actually says closest guy friend, but if Georgia's asking Tally about Gideon, and Gideon is a girl, then couldn't Tally just go with a girl friend? Er, not a girlfriend, though. Oh blimey, Georgia is confusing herself. She starts over. "A, you go with your closest friend, who won't mind if you stare at your crush. B, a cute person you've been flirting with, or C, your boyfriend. Erm, I guess C is Gideon. Although she could also be B. That's up to you, I think."

"Totally dizzy-making. And um... A, probably." Tally realizes guiltily she's thinking of Peris, not Georgia, and suddenly misses him so much it almost hurts. "I feel like I need a friend to hang out with pre-bash, you know? Besides, Gideon's never showed up at a party with me. Otherwise she'd have better outfits."

Georgia laughs, delighted. "Right, this is the final question. You have a major track meet coming up—er, you know, a sporting event. Are you most excited to, A, check out the events, B, warm up with the cute person you've had your eye on, or C, give your crush a massage?" Lord, this question is very American. Georgia and her mates are not giving their crushes massages at track meets.

Tally giggles too. "What are these answers? I feel like B is the only one that isn't totally sense-missing. Watching and playing sports is only fun if it's to spend time with friends, in my opinion."

"Tally, you are always so full of wisenosity." Georgia adds up Tally's answers, then turns the magazine around so she can see, pointing at the result in the middle. "This is you!"

The magazine reads: PASSIONATE PURPLE. You love love and getting swept off your feet! For you, life right now is about sampling many flavors. But you might be passing up a great guy without even knowing it. Ask friends for an outside opinion on your love life if you need some perspective about Mr. Right versus Mr. Right Now. They'll help you know when to get serious.

"Thank you, Georgia-la. You too!" Tally smiles at Georgia and reads her answer, giggling at the way it's written. "Okay, so it's being utterly obvious," she concludes. "I totally am already asking you!"

"Excellent instincts. But even though I am a Luuurve Expert, I don't know Gideon, so it's hard to say if you should be getting serious or not," she says contemplatively. "I wonder if you should try talking to Janet. She is very learned and wise in the ways of romance, sort of like a mum except actually helpful. Or Claudius, he gives quite unexpectedly decent advice too."

"I like Claudius-wa," Tally agrees. "I haven't met Janet, but maybe I should. I'd have to wait a while so it wasn't just, like, "Um, hi, we don't know each other, but can you fix my love life?""

Georgia nods. "She's got a groovy fashion sense too. You could lead with that, and then ask her to fix your love life." Something about the quiz and its assessment of someone's readiness or lack thereof vis-a-vis relationships is bothering her. It reminds her of Jas saying you are not ready for a proper relationship, Gee, you are not a serious sort of person. "Do you want to be serious with Gideon? Er, that is, have the Specific Horn and so on?"

"It just depends on a lot. Like, what if I woke up back home tomorrow? What about Zane and David, the boys I liked back home? Or what if Gideon's too caught up on that girl from her world? If I asked and she was like no, I totally died for Harrow and she's way bubblier than you, that would just be so utterly bogus and ruin everything!"

Georgia nods. "My mate Jas is in absolute luuuurve with this boy Tom, urgh it's quite disgusting really, she calls him Hunky? Anyway, she is always saying how they have this so-called serious relationship that is based on sharing interests and total honesty or some rubbish like that. My point is, there is a big difference between a relationship and simply enjoying a good snog and letting a boy—or a girl—give you melty brain and jelloid knickers. And if you are simply looking for some fun, you don't want to accidentally end up with a Hunky, going on nature walks and wearing enormous pants like Jas. Er, does Gideon give you melty brain and jelloid knickers? That's not rude, by the way, it just means, you know, oooooooh."

"It's more than just enjoying a good snog. She does give me--um--jelloid knickers." She giggles. "But part of the reason I decided to start kissing her in the first place is she gives me, um, non-melty brain? Like I feel more awake around her?"

"Hmmm." This may be out of Georgia's area of expertise. She cannot believe she's even thinking it, but it might actually be nice to get Jas's opinion on this. Not because Miss Prissy Knickers knows more about luuurve than Georgia. Only because she knows about a different type of luuuurve. After all, Tom is hardly going around giving anyone melty brain!!! Jas's brain comes pre-melted anyway, ha ha. Ugh, it's not even funny to be rude to her when she isnt even here! "Is there anyone else here who's caught your eye, or just Gideon?"

"Almost everyone is so old," Tally complains. "And you and Tress-la and Nina-la are my friends. I mean, Gideon's my friend too, but you know how some friends, you could just never see that way? It was like that for me and my friend Peris back home."

[georgianosity]

"Well, that's actually quite fascinating to hear, scientific-wise. Because I would say I'm not interested in any of my mates because they're girls. But then again, there is such a thing as a boy mate, such as Dave the Laugh, but he is also my ex-boyfriend and dumpee, so I'm not sure it counts." She tries to steer her brain back on topic. "Oh my giddy god, I know, everyone here is so old. I thought Magnus was fit but he turned out to be practically a grandfather in disguise."

"I did call him an ugly when I first met him," Tally admits. "He didn't know that we just call teenagers uglies in the future, so you can imagine it was not a happy-making thing to hear. The fact that he's actually almost a middle pretty is totally crazy!"

[georgianosity]

"I thought he was mad for having a serious conversation with my cat. Then he tried to tell me he didn't think it counted as just mates if you've snogged someone a lot of times." She rolls her eyes at this.

"Surely, whether it's just mates is up to the people doing the snogging," Tally agrees. "I do think he can actually talk to animals, though, as sense-missing as it is."

"I know that now. And have you met the other kitty cat?" Georgia's eyes widen. "Tally, hang on a minute —have you met Angus??"

[tallyyoungblood]

"No, I don't think so! At least not for very long. He's always running around."

[georgianosity]

"Oooooh, let's find him! He is my true bestest pally."

[tallyyoungblood]

Tally nods and happily hops up.

"Where is he, usually?"

"Either tearing around the grounds, in the kitchen trying to get food given to him, or in my room. My room's closest." She grabs Tally's hand to lead her, something that would definitely make Rosie say something like "calm your tits, lez," but Georgia is embracing a gay-friendly attitude. Americans are all touchy feely with their mates anyway.

Tally's pleased when Georgia takes her hand. It reminds her she has real friends here, a real clique. She follows Georgia to her room.

"I'm excited to see him. I think I told you, but my parents had a cat and I really miss having one."
