Georgia is in Miz Land, the realm of the utterly miz. She is BORED TO DEATH. She misses her little pallies, especially Miss Huffmeister herself (Jaz). What she wouldn't give to see Jaz do her annoying flicky fringe thing!! It is so true what they say, absence makes the heart something something. And how. The only saving whatsit is that the library has about a trillion back issues of CosmoGIRL. Georgia is sitting cross-legged on the floor of the lounge closest to her bedroom, makeup and magazines spread around her, hair in curlers, letting her base coat of foundation dry and reading an article called "Would YOU be Leo's perfect date?".

At home, she would be doing this in her room, safely out of the path of elderly maniacs (and toddler maniacs, and cat maniacs), but there is so little to do here that she simply CANNOT be in her room a moment longer. Besides, there is no one here whose opinion she cares about. The only cute boy is Magnus, and not only has he got a girlfriend but he's about fifty (she may be misremembering his age). It only goes to show the utter futility of life, and so on. Anyway. Ooh, Leo likes Mexican food?

Tally's just woken up from a nap and is on her way to find another cup of coffee when she spots Georgia. This is perfect. Magnus hadn't really ended up giving her any actionable advice about Gideon, besides, like, don't be an idiot. She needs someone who isn't already unfairly relationship-having.

"Georgia-la!" she exclaims. "Oh my gosh, are you looking at Rusty magazines? Bubbly!"

"Tally pally!!" Georgia holds up the issue. "Yes, come look, they have a quiz so you can see which animal best represents your love life. Mine is a hummingbird."

[tallyyoungblood]

Tally comes over and sits down. "Ooh, what does hummingbird mean? Those quizzes are so hard to do the math for in your head," she says. "Totally headache-making to remember how many As, how many Bs, etcetera." She sort of doubts the wisdom of the magazine can help her, but maybe Georgia can.

Georgia hasn't actually read the little thingummy for hummingbird yet. She skims it. "It says I sort of flit from blossom to blossom, sampling different nectars—oo-er." She doesn't need to be thinking about Robbie and Masimo's respective nectars. "Well, it's a bit insulting really, isn't it? This magazine has basically called me a common tart."

"Totally not," Tally reassures her. "That would be so bogus. It just means you're, um, discerning. Hummingbirds totally don't commit to a flower before trying it, after all." Tally's pretty sure that isn't actually how hummingbirds work, but she doesn't want Georgia to feel like a common tart.

Tally is such a good mate!! Jaz would have just said "That's right, Slag Nicolson" and then Georgia would have been forced to shove her into a ditch, even though there is technically no violence allowed between ace gang members. This must be the famed Hamburger-a-gogo hospitality that nearly turned Georgia lezzie while she was there. "You are so right. I am utterly dying of boredom here—have you found anything to do?"

Tally turns a little pink. "Um, I've been learning how to do swordfighting with Gideon. Have you met her?"

[georgianosity]

"No, but that sounds"—well, like something Jaz would be interested in and Georgia would roll her eyes at, who would want to wave around a big sword, but things are different here as there is quite literally nothing normal to do—"groovy. Is she our age as well?"

"Yeah, she is. I spend a lot of time with her, actually. Um... you know how you said we always have to sharesies about snogging?"

Tress is on the way back to her room from her workshop and sees Georgia as she walks by the door, so she stops. "Georgia, hi! What are you looking at?"

"Tress!" Oh, she is so glad to see one of the few people under the age of one hundred. It is pathetico in the extreme. "Don't they have CosmoGIRL on the high seas?"

"I have absolutely no idea what CosmoGIRL even is," she says with a little smile. "You'll have to explain."

"Oooh, it's the fabbiest, you are in for a treat. It's this magazine with lots of tips about boys and things—here, come look." Georgia opens one of the issues at random and offers it to Tress. The article at the top is titled Five Things Your Boyfriend Wishes You Knew About Him!

She looks at the title of the article quizzically. "Why wouldn't your boyfriend just tell you something he wished you knew about him, though?"

[georgianosity]

"Well, boys aren't very good at talking. And anyway, it's not things about your boyfriend specifically, it's meant to be things about boys that make them different to girls, but that they can't express because they don't even know they're not normal. Like, erm—" Georgia has read many similar articles, but not this specific one. She hazards a guess. "Like how boys actually like to do things for girls, because it makes them feel they are demonstrating their worth, you know, like a caveman dragging back a dead mammoth for his cave girlfriend. So you shouldn't be afraid to ask them for gifts and such."

She smiles a little. "Or a boy sending cups to you when his father's trying to marry him off to a princess?"

[georgianosity]

"Oh, yes. My mutti read this whole book about it, all about how boys really like to do things for you, and if you order him around then he'll see you as a sort of goddess to be worshipped. Is that how your boyfriend thinks of you, do you think?"

Nina met Georgia briefly when she first arrived -- but the magazine catches her eye as she's walking past. It looks exactly like the magazines she'd been looking through to plan her slumber party!

"Hi... Georgia, right?" She glances down at the article. "Everyone seems very obsessed with that Leo guy."

[georgianosity]

"Ooh, he is gorgey porgey, although not full Sex God status in my opinion. Also, as an American, we must assume he has more than a touch of madnosity in his brain." Georgia tilts her head at Nina. "Yes, it's Georgia."

Nina smiles at the word "madnosity". She loves it. There are so many things in her life that can only be explained by that word. "Have you ever been to a slumber party? I keep reading about it in these magazines and I've been thinking about having one!"

[georgianosity]

"Oh my giddy god, yes!! Especially since there are no parents here, ugh, they are the worst part of slumber parties!" But wait—did Nina say she's only read about them in magazines?? "You haven't been to one before? Are your parents utter fascists?"

[ravkanwitch]

Nina thinks she can possibly understand the word fascists from the context cues, though she isn't entirely sure. "I grew up without parents," she tells Georgia, though she doesn't sound too upset or sad about it. "But... we just didn't have them in Ravka. Slumber parties, I mean, not parents. I think I'm inviting Tress, Gideon, Tally, and Gu Xiang. Do you want to come?"

[georgianosity]

"Is the Pope Catholic??? Yes, I want to come!"

[ravkanwitch]

Nina assumes the answer to that question is yes. "Great! Hopefully you can explain how truth or dare is supposed to work. It sounds fun."

[georgianosity]

"Oh lordy, my mates and I play it as Truth, Dare, Kiss or Promise. It's a laugh and a half really, one time Jaz got 'dare' and I made her fill her knickers with vegetables, she could fit about two pounds of potatoes in and four carrots! And Jools' boyfriend Steve had to eat a raw onion, and—" Georgia cuts herself off. Blimey, she must be going red as a tomato, because she has just remembered that that was the game when she accidentally snogged Dave! Even after telling herself to eschew her red bottom with a firm hand!! Well, it's one of the times they accidental snogged, anyway. Georgia can't be keeping track of all the times, not that it's that many. Probably a totally normal number of times to snog someone who's just a mate when you are both young and full of spirit, no matter what Magnus says about it. "Erm, it's loads of fun."
