Georgia is in Miz Land, the realm of the utterly miz. She is BORED TO DEATH. She misses her little pallies, especially Miss Huffmeister herself (Jaz). What she wouldn't give to see Jaz do her annoying flicky fringe thing!! It is so true what they say, absence makes the heart something something. And how. The only saving whatsit is that the library has about a trillion back issues of CosmoGIRL. Georgia is sitting cross-legged on the floor of the lounge closest to her bedroom, makeup and magazines spread around her, hair in curlers, letting her base coat of foundation dry and reading an article called "Would YOU be Leo's perfect date?".

At home, she would be doing this in her room, safely out of the path of elderly maniacs (and toddler maniacs, and cat maniacs), but there is so little to do here that she simply CANNOT be in her room a moment longer. Besides, there is no one here whose opinion she cares about. The only cute boy is Magnus, and not only has he got a girlfriend but he's about fifty (she may be misremembering his age). It only goes to show the utter futility of life, and so on. Anyway. Ooh, Leo likes Mexican food?

Tally's lips open in a shocked O. "I have self esteem! I'm a pretty!" she protests, but it sounds totally limp coming out of her mouth. "The problem is Gideon cares way less about looks than people are supposed to. It's, like, bubbly of her or whatever but it gives me way less of an advantage."

"That is vair vair annoying," Georgia sympathizes. Robbie could be like that too sometimes, all intense about having a true connection between their souls. What's the point of getting all made up and spending hours optimizing the bounceability of one's hair if a boy wants to snog your soul?? "What, er, what are the things you like about her?"

[tallyyoungblood]

"She's funny and she's not afraid to try things, even utterly scary things. Total crim. Plus she's always, like... trying to protect me, I guess?" Tally twists her hair around her finger. "Did you ever see those Rusty movies--or, um, regular movies to you, I guess--about knights and stuff? She's like that. But less boringly devoted to a stupid Rusty god or whatever. Not that I need protecting, really, but it's nice that she wants to?"

Like a knight, but devoted to Tally instead of a god or a king. Framed like that, lesbianism makes a lot more sense! Georgia holds up the magazine. "Do you want to learn what your relationship style is? Maybe it will help."

"Oh my gosh, utterly. I could totally use the advice."

"Fabbity fab!!" Georgia flips to a page titled "What color is your love life?"

"Rightio, question one. At a dance, you are usually the person: A, hanging with your girls, B, flirting with different peeps, or C, dancing thisclose to another guy?"

"Definitely hanging out with my clique. They're not all girls, though."

[georgianosity]

"Alright, and what would be your first question to a love psychic? A, will I ever get a guy? B, is he getting serious about me? Or C, will he be mine forever?" Lord, do not let Rosie get ahold of this magazine. She would develop some mad love psychic character and irritate the pants off Georgia telling her fortune every time she walked near a bloke for the next five thousand years.

"Uh... B, I guess." Tally's not sure about the integrity of a magazine that thinks psychics are real and assumes everyone reading it must like men. Totally misogynistic!

[georgianosity]

Georgia scribbles this down. "Right, so you get a note from a secret admirer. Do you, A, assume it's one of your friends having a laugh, B, hope it's the bloke you like, or C, giggle and tell your bloke 'thanks'? Erm, I guess imagine Gideon in place of the bloke, for this part. Also I am modifying the wording somewhat, I don't think the British have the constitution to say the word 'guy' this many times in a row."

"What do you mean by note? Like an anonymous ping? Oh! Or a physical note." The only physical notes Tally's ever gotten in her life have been written by Shay, since no one else she knows can handwrite. She follows Georgia's example and imagines the scenario at the mansion instead. "I guess A. Gideon's never written me a note before. She's taken notes on my memories, but that's it."

"Er, yes, a physical note. Right, question four, if you're single on Valentine's—oh, do they have St. Val's Day in the future?"

[tallyyoungblood]

"When you do a party about love and dating and wear pink, yeah, totally. Saint, though? Was Valentine, like, a guy?" Tally's heard of Rudolph Valentino, who was someone the Rusties considered a natural pretty, but she's sure he wasn't a saint. Some of the older Crims had told her that some new pretties throw Valentine's parties at Valentino mansion, which is totally cheesy, but whatever.

"Oh yes, he's a saint and all but I don't know why he has a whole day to himself. Anyway, if you're single on Valentine's, would you, A, not be surprised, B, go out with your single mates and maybe meet someone, or C, get really depressed?"

"B, of course."

This is why Tally's such a good mate!! Jas should be taking notes.

"Okay, so when prom time comes... well you probably don't have prom in the future but we don't have it in England either, so we can both just use the power of imagination and so on. But prom is, er, like a big party where you have to get off with someone. So it says, when prom time comes, who will you go with? A, your closest—erm, your closest friend, that would be me—" It actually says closest guy friend, but if Georgia's asking Tally about Gideon, and Gideon is a girl, then couldn't Tally just go with a girl friend? Er, not a girlfriend, though. Oh blimey, Georgia is confusing herself. She starts over. "A, you go with your closest friend, who won't mind if you stare at your crush. B, a cute person you've been flirting with, or C, your boyfriend. Erm, I guess C is Gideon. Although she could also be B. That's up to you, I think."

"Totally dizzy-making. And um... A, probably." Tally realizes guiltily she's thinking of Peris, not Georgia, and suddenly misses him so much it almost hurts. "I feel like I need a friend to hang out with pre-bash, you know? Besides, Gideon's never showed up at a party with me. Otherwise she'd have better outfits."

Georgia laughs, delighted. "Right, this is the final question. You have a major track meet coming up—er, you know, a sporting event. Are you most excited to, A, check out the events, B, warm up with the cute person you've had your eye on, or C, give your crush a massage?" Lord, this question is very American. Georgia and her mates are not giving their crushes massages at track meets.

Tally giggles too. "What are these answers? I feel like B is the only one that isn't totally sense-missing. Watching and playing sports is only fun if it's to spend time with friends, in my opinion."

[georgianosity]

"Tally, you are always so full of wisenosity." Georgia adds up Tally's answers, then turns the magazine around so she can see, pointing at the result in the middle. "This is you!"

The magazine reads: PASSIONATE PURPLE. You love love and getting swept off your feet! For you, life right now is about sampling many flavors. But you might be passing up a great guy without even knowing it. Ask friends for an outside opinion on your love life if you need some perspective about Mr. Right versus Mr. Right Now. They'll help you know when to get serious.

"Thank you, Georgia-la. You too!" Tally smiles at Georgia and reads her answer, giggling at the way it's written. "Okay, so it's being utterly obvious," she concludes. "I totally am already asking you!"

"Excellent instincts. But even though I am a Luuurve Expert, I don't know Gideon, so it's hard to say if you should be getting serious or not," she says contemplatively. "I wonder if you should try talking to Janet. She is very learned and wise in the ways of romance, sort of like a mum except actually helpful. Or Claudius, he gives quite unexpectedly decent advice too."

"I like Claudius-wa," Tally agrees. "I haven't met Janet, but maybe I should. I'd have to wait a while so it wasn't just, like, "Um, hi, we don't know each other, but can you fix my love life?""

[georgianosity]

Georgia nods. "She's got a groovy fashion sense too. You could lead with that, and then ask her to fix your love life." Something about the quiz and its assessment of someone's readiness or lack thereof vis-a-vis relationships is bothering her. It reminds her of Jas saying you are not ready for a proper relationship, Gee, you are not a serious sort of person. "Do you want to be serious with Gideon? Er, that is, have the Specific Horn and so on?"

"It just depends on a lot. Like, what if I woke up back home tomorrow? What about Zane and David, the boys I liked back home? Or what if Gideon's too caught up on that girl from her world? If I asked and she was like no, I totally died for Harrow and she's way bubblier than you, that would just be so utterly bogus and ruin everything!"
